Template Designer
The Template Designer allows users to aggregate and constrain openEHR archetypes for a specific use-case, domain or location with 'drag-and-drop' ease - thus making them 'fit for clinical purpose'.
It enables users to build aggregations of archetypes into larger structures that can be used to represent documents such as a Discharge summary or a report, or to capture or display data for an activity such as an Antenatal Visit or Emergency Department assessment.
Template constraints include linking to terminology subsets, excluding optional archetype nodes that not relevant in the specific situation and tightening constraints to validate data entry.
Templates comprising multiple archetypes within an openEHR Composition can enable capture of archetyped data that is validated and constrained by its component archetypes. Templates for a single archetype can be saved once and then re-used by embedding it within multiple other templates with a similar use-case.
The Template Designer can take an existing template and create a generic form in which the template is displayed in a GUI like interface in which the archetype data types are represented appropriately with associated constraints in situ. These forms can demonstrate the integration of the Template Designer with the Terminology Service and can display the bound terminology subsets at each data node.
The Template Designer also has a mapping function that allows a user to map other data types to openEHR templates for use in converting legacy data to openEHR data.
